National Hazelnut Cake Day
June 1st is a day to spend some time in the kitchen baking up a delicious hazelnut cake as you take part in National Hazelnut Cake Day.
We call hazelnuts by a variety of names, including filberts, Pontic, and cobnuts. In North America, they are native to the Midwest, North and South Eastern United States and Canada.
These sweet and buttery nuts complement a variety of recipes. That’s why they go so well in a cake all their own. They also combine well with chocolate making a delicious spread. Many hazelnut cake recipes include a hazelnut spread as a topping or in between layers. Hazelnut also enhances the flavor of coffee, bread, muffins, and puddings. And don’t forget ice cream. Hazelnuts make delicious ice cream that when combined with cake can turn out an amazing ice cream cake.
